Darlings, workplace flexibility is on the rise … right? After all, we have been known to ‘live the holiday’, with work being side-lined here in Cape Town for a reason. So, it’s no wonder that many cafés and coffee shops in our chic city are transforming into cool ‘coffices’ to accommodate this emerging trend!

Whether you’re an entrepreneur, flexi-worker or freelancer, you need to know about these five fabulous spots that you can work from. They all offer an office away from the office with excellent brews, tasty eats and unlimited Wi-Fi.

1. Bootlegger

Bootlegger is arguably one of the best coffee shops in Cape Town … it’s a true gem, Darlings! Located in the heart of Sea Point, the interior features lovely dark walls and enough seating for busy laptop workers to make ample use of the speedy Wi-Fi. Be warned, though – it’s super-busy in the mornings! Hordes of young professionals flock to this place in the evening, too. To me, that’s just a sign of how great this place is! Their coffee, which they make from Guatemalan and Costa Rican beans, is sublime – as are their breakfasts, hot-pressed sandwiches and sweet treats galore!

Where: 39 Regent Road, Sea Point, Cape Town.

2. Haas Collective

Haas is a gorgeous little artistic haunt located on the buzzing Buitenkant Street. Hop on over for rare and exotic single-origin coffees as well as a large selection of sweet and savoury breakfasts. The croissants and baguettes are superb! I must also mention that they even stock Kopi Luwak – the most expensive coffee in the world – they serve it at R110 a cup (I’ll try it one day). The interior is striking, featuring stunning ornaments, oil paintings and miscellaneous décor items. Trust me, Darlings … the design alone is sure to spark creativity!

Where: 19 Buitenkant Street, Cape Town CBD.

3. Café Neo

Café Neo is the perfect place to get some work done without actually feeling like you’re working (seriously!). That’s all thanks to its picturesque beachfront location, which overlooks the shimmering Atlantic Ocean. Sit down and enjoy a decent cup of coffee and a light dish from their Mediterranean-inspired menu while you work away. If it’s a quiet, peaceful environment you’re looking for, however, I suggest you go in the late afternoon or evening when it’s less jam-packed. Oh, and the workspace comes complete with power points too – how convenient?!

Where: 129 Beach Road, Mouille Point, Cape Town.

4. Hard Pressed Café

Great coffee coupled with good music is hard to beat … and, with seating both inside and outside, this little gem right in the middle of the city is an ideal spot to get some work done! Adorned with vinyl and quirky décor, Hard Pressed Café offers delicious coffees as well as breakfasts and light meals. If you feel like indulging, be sure to ask them to whip up one of their decadent white hot chocolates for you – they’re the bee’s knees (and I don’t use that term lightly, just so you know)!

Where: 1 Bree Street, Cape Town CBD.

5. Truth Coffee

Darlings, Truth Coffee is the sexiest coffee shop in our city … it was voted the world’s best coffee shop by The Telegraph for good reason! So, if it’s fine artesian coffee and a vibey ambience that gets your creative juices flowing, this is just the place to go. You can enjoy a selection of the most heavenly coffees (I especially love the Sunrise Espresso and the Silky Vengeance) as well as tasty breakfasts here. Their signature breakfast dish is the Steampunk Benedict, which is sure to win you over!

Where: 36 Buitenkant Street, Cape Town CBD.
