Darlings, I don’t know about you, but I’m a juice junkie, as I like to call it. The juicing scene is huge here in Cape Town, with juice stalls popping up at every food market and on every trendy street corner. While it’s no secret that I cherish all things sweet and buttery, I simply can’t resist cold, freshly squeezed juices from these five fabulous juice bars

1. Orchard On Long

This hip and happening juice bar is a small, cosy space tucked away on the ever-bustling Long Street. It offers customers a big selection of freshly squeezed, cold-pressed juices that are made from only the freshest produce sourced from the organic rooftop garden above the shop. The juice bar even stocks their own range of detox juices that form part of their beneficial juice cleanse programmes.

Must-Try: The Panda (lime, avocado, spinach, pineapple, celery, spirulina, apple, cucumber and ginger at R62 for 520ml) and the Almond Milk (raw almonds, dates, coconut oil, vanilla and Himalayan salt at R58 for 300ml).

Where: 211 Long Street, Cape Town CBD, Cape Town.

2. Crush

Situated in the trendy Greenmarket Square, this bustling little eatery come juice bar is an oasis of health offering fresh salads, tasty snacks and a large selection of freshly squeezed juices. It’s a fabulous spot to pop into for an affordable healthy lunch, or just to pick up a fresh juice to perk up in the morning. They also offer their own juice detox packs.

Must-Try: The Green Alkaliser (apple, cucumber, spinach, celery, lemon and ginger at R30 for 340ml) and the Pear and Ginger Cleanser (pear, ginger and cucumber at R28 for 340ml).

Where: Shop 100, St Georges Mall, Cape Town CBD, Cape Town.

3. ESO Juice Co

A popular spot to pick up a raw juice or smoothie, this Cape Quarter establishment is centrally located and serves up a variety of fresh juices for you to pick from. You’ll also be place to know that their bottles of goodness come at pocket-friendly prices! I love how most of their medleys are tropical spins on traditional juices to keep your juicing habits exciting.

Must-Try: The Juice of Eli (beetroot, celery, ginger, carrot, lemon and apple at R25 for 350ml) and the Green Pine (green juice with fresh parsley, celery, apple and pineapple at R60 for 1L).

Where: Cape Quarter, The Square, 27 Somerset Road, Green Point, Cape Town.

4. Jiji Juice Bar

This bright and inviting inner-city juice bar offers customers an almost overwhelming variety of cold-pressed juices to sip on. It’s an ideal place to pop past in your lunch hour to order up a healthy juice. But I warn you … don’t be alarmed if you arrive and there are long queues … this affordable juicing spot has become tremendously popular over the last couple of months.

Must-Try: The Jiji Giant (parsley, celery, apple, ginger and lemon at R35 for 500ml) and the Citrus Storm (orange, apple, cucumber and lemon at R35 for 500ml).

Where: 30 Long Street, Cape Town CBD, Cape Town.

5. Dr Juice

If you’re into veggie juices, this is definitely your spot. Pop into the Market on the Wharf at the V&A Waterfront any day of the week and sample the very best fruit and vegetable blends at this fabulous juice counter. You can also catch them at the Bay Harbour Market, Earthfair Food Market, SlowFood Market, Lourensford Market and Blaauwklippen Market.
