There are many reasons I love online shopping – one being that if I pitched up at the mall, braless, in my PJ’s and sipping a chai-latte I would get loads of horrified looks. But the most important reason is because I am in love (and I don’t say this lightly) with Dear Rae. Before you start to wonder who this is, and why it sounds like I’ve got an unhealthy stalking obsession, focus … I said online shopping, remember. Dear Rae is the most gorgeous range of proudly African, hand-crafted jewellery I have ever come across and I’m so excited to share it with you!

Proceed with caution if you’re into simple, delicate jewellery that’s timeless, yet charming. If you decide to forge ahead (you really should), take a moment to say goodbye to your willpower. The online catalogue is more absorbing than the recent antics in parliament – I can spend hours browsing though the gorgeous rings, bangles, bracelets, pendants and earrings. The jewellery is made from gold, silver, brass and copper with the occasional gemstone and is designed to be worn every single day. Thank goodness, because I never want to take my pieces off!

Towards the end of last year, Dear Rae revealed their latest collection, Let’s get Tropsi, inspired by carefree, happy summer days and all things tropical. Think pineapples, banana splits and delicious monsters that are super quirky but still true to the original look I’ve come to love. If you’re looking to splurge, you simply have to check out the covetable Luxury Gold Ring Collection. I hate to sound like a spoilt brat but I’ve got a severe case of “the wants.” If you’re planning on tying the knot anytime soon, maybe it’s time you started dropping a few hints around – Dear Rae also do commissions and they will manufacture a special engagement or wedding ring for you.

One of my favourite parts about shopping online from Dear Rae Jewellery is that when my package finally arrives, it’s like a present to me, from me that I know I’m going to be hung up on for ages! Expect to pay anything from R280 for a brass ring to R12000 for an item from The Luxury Gold Ring Collection.
