Darlings, sometimes you want a bit more than just a meal out of dinner – you know, occasionally you feel like you need to have a unique experience to go along with a moreish supper. Well, the next time you feel that way, best you book a table at Bombay Bicycle Club for a beautifully bohemian evening you won’t soon forget!

I had heard such great things about this place that just so happens to fall under the Madame Zingara umbrella – if they’re involved, you know it’s going to be good – so I booked a table a couple of weeks in advance, just to be 100 per cent sure I’d get to experience the place sooner rather than later … they can get quite busy!

Finally, the evening arrived and my sister and I headed on over. As we pulled up, we noticed a bunch of people standing outside drinking, smoking and laughing loudly and we immediately felt the jovial vibe of the place. We were warmly welcomed inside by the eccentric staff and, to be honest, we needed a minute just to take everything in…

Darlings, the décor is nothing short of amazing. The restaurant itself is dimly lit, the walls are full of charming bric-a-brac, there are plants all over the show and there’s even a swing that doubles as a chair in the middle of the restaurant. That, coupled with the fact that the waiters and waitresses dress to impress in a bohemian style with a twist, makes for an all round fabulous experience. Everything comes together to set the tone for your time spent there … chilled, but with a bit of a wild vibe.

My sister and I ordered ourselves some drinks to start things off … I chose a glass of rosé, while my she picked a classic mojito … we sipped away while deciding what to eat. After scanning the menu, we decided to both order the same thing (boring, I know!) – we went for the ravioli of the day, which was served with broccoli and tomatoes in a burnt butter and sage sauce, and were more than happy with our choice.

Our waiter, who was dressed in a mesh shirt and looked OTT in the best way, was very attentive the whole night and kept checking in on us, which is always great. Sadly, we had no room for dessert but we’ll definitely be back.

Suddenly, at about 10pm, the host started banging drums really loudly. Not knowing what on earth was going on, we looked around, rather confused, until he started shouting something along the lines of, “Two for one! Two for one! Drinks specials all round!” It really made things feel extra-festive.

Bombay Bicycle Club is a great place to celebrate a birthday, to go for a meal and a drink or three with a group of friends, or even for a date night with a bit of a difference!
