Rest Easy With These Simple Tips

Life is filled with worries - and no matter how hard we try, we can’t get away from them. If it’s not a crazy work schedule, then it’s sick children at home while you’re on deadline. Or maybe it’s just dealing with society - and its many issues. Sometimes, all those daily problems only come to mind as you switch the lights off at night and hit the pillow.

I was always a great sleeper. Okay, until I had a baby that is… then I forgot what sleep was all about, but you know what I mean. Fact is, when you’re young and problem-free, it’s easy to shut your eyes and deal with whatever issues you have the following day. Nor do you realise the effect that no sleep has on your health.

So we’re here to help you out a bit (and of course, take some of our own advice) as we share some fabulous tips on how to switch off from the world and get a good night’s rest – every night!  Trust me, nothing will change overnight anyway, so why lose sleep over it?

• Stick to a sleep schedule. That means getting your booty into bed at about the same time every night, and your alarm set for the same time every morning.

• Use your room for sleep only. Okay, so we’re not saying never go inside, but don’t use this space to watch TV, catch up on work or hang out with the kids. Make it a place of rest - and rest only.

• Turn your bed into a five-star resort. That’s right - from a comfortable mattress, to satin sheets, and thermal blankets (in winter of course), make your bed your happy place.

• Trick yourself into sleeping. No, don’t count sheep but close those beautiful eyes and picture yourself on the beach in Italy. This should help you dose off.

• Exercise in the afternoon. Don’t hit the treadmill just before bed time, as your adrenaline will still be pumping. Try to get your training done in the late afternoon so that by the time dinner times comes around, you’re pretty drained already.

• Start a new book. Why is it that a little reading with the lamp on gets you dosing off at times? Well, who cares – as long as it works!

Sweet dreams everyone.
