I’m not going to lie, running is not really my thing. I’m the type of girl who prefers Pilates classes to cardio. But we all know that a little cardio is always needed - especially with summer around the corner (kind of). While you might be running for your waistline, you’ll be happy to know that you’re doing wonders for your body and mind too.
Running has been proven to have many health benefits. That’s why we’re sharing some tips to help inspire you to put those sneakers on and hit the road. And yes, I’m going to give it a try too. After all, it’s not just about looking good, but feeling fab too, right?
• Running helps you shed those unwanted kilos fast (which is the most important reason for some of us). And let’s be honest, we’re always looking for a great way to get into shape.
• It’s a great way to boost your immune system. Experts say that running increases your white blood cells.
• It’s good for your bones - and as we get older, that’s vital.
• Running improves lung capacity which means your breathing will be better, promoting overall good health.
• Your heart needs it. Experts reveal that cardiovascular health is improved through running.
• It will keep stress at bay. While you can’t forget all your problems during a 30-minute run, it will help you relax and de-stress a little.
• It will lift your mood. Who knew a little run could put a smile on your face, right? Although, beware as the pain the following day could make you a little teary!
• Running is also a great way to fight depression as your brain releases beta endorphins which bring a greater sense of wellbeing.
• Say hello to your social life. Running in groups, or with a friend or partner, could motivate and inspire you more - and give you time to catch up.
• Lastly, running improves your appearance - and we don’t just mean your body. According to experts, when the blood is pumping, you get a healthy glow.
