Darlings, I can’t think of many places I’d rather be than in Cape Town when the weather is warm. With its beautiful mountains, glistening harbour and scenic beaches, it sure is hard to beat the Mother City! But with so many choices to refresh your thirst, it can be tough to decide which hot and happening bars to hit up in the summer. So, I’ve put together a list of fabulous spots you should be enjoying this season!

1. Shimmy Beach Club

For a hot oceanfront outing, there’s no better place to be than this exclusive and perfectly located beach club. Shimmy boasts two bars, a fine dining restaurant, whisky and vodka tasting rooms as well as a sprawling deck leading down to an infinity pool and private beach. Plus, at this elite spot, you can feast on stunning panoramic views of both the rolling waters of the harbour and the majestic backdrop of Table Mountain. They serve up fabulous seafood and sushi as well as divine cocktails. You’ve got to try both their Genuine Mojito as well as the Shimmy Sherbet – yum!

Where: 12 South Arm Road, V&A Waterfront, Cape Town Harbour, Cape Town.

2. Harald’s Bar & Terrace

This uber-trendy spot, situated on the 11th floor of the upscale Park Inn by Radisson Hotel, is the perfect place to sip on something frosty while you put your feet up and relax. The bar boasts some pretty unbeatable views of the surrounding mountains, which makes for a lovely laidback ambience. They serve up a variety of tasty drinks, from craft beers and bottled ciders to wines and cocktails. The Strawberry & Pomegranate Spritzer and the Table Mountain Sunset are two of my favourite sundowners to sip on here. Feeling hungry? Then head over to the hotel’s top-notch restaurant, RBG Bar & Grill, for further indulgence.

Where: Park Inn by Radisson Hotel, 29 Heerengracht Street, Foreshore, Cape Town.

3. The Bungalow

With its breathtaking ocean views, chic interior, and excellent food and wine menu, this is certainly Clifton’s hottest restaurant and lounge! Whether you’re looking for somewhere stylish to enjoy a long, lazy lunch or simply somewhere stunning to watch the sun go down, this is the place to go. Their food menu is extensive, offering everything from seafood and sushi to burgers and meat. And, you can be sure that their cocktail selection is just as fabulous! Quench your thirst with something tantalising, like the Apple & Mint Martini or the Banana & Coconut Daiquiri while you sit back and enjoy life.

Where: Glen Country Club, 3 Victoria Road, Clifton, Cape Town.

4. Sky Bar

This quirky yet somewhat charming little bar, situated atop one of Cape Town’s most well-known and well-loved boutique hotels, is a spot like no other. Picture yourself on a spectacular rooftop overlooking the busy and bustling Long Street – surrounded by seven vintage Airstream trailers and a number of wooden deckchairs. From up here, you’ll be able to kick back and take in amazing views of the city skyline while snacking on delicious bar snacks and sipping French champagne. Their bar menu has something for everyone – from chilli poppers and chicken goujons to beers and cocktails.

Where: The Grand Daddy Hotel, 38 Long Street, Cape Town CBD, Cape Town.

5.  Sandy B Private Beach Club

Overlooking the popular Camps Bay Beach, this exclusive beach bar provides a stunning deck and pool from which you can take in incomparable views of Camps Bay. It’s a stylish yet very relaxed venue, complimented by the pure aesthetics of the décor. Sit back and lounge on the breezy deck, float around on a lilo in the sunshine, or simply cool off with a classic cocktail or glass of chilled champagne. If you want to know where our city’s most sun-kissed socialites and bronzed beauties spend their weekends, it’s here! So, be sure to get there early to reserve your spot. Oh, and try a Strawberry Mojito – they’re to-die-for!

Where: The Bay Hotel, 69 Victoria Street, Camps Bay, Cape Town.

6. Zenith Sky Bar & Pool Deck

Recently relaunched, this trendy rooftop bar inside the Cape Royale Luxury Hotel is undoubtedly one of the best spots to soak up some sun or just wind down. The gorgeous bar offers a lovely pool as well as loungers and daybeds, making it a fabulous poolside location. The views of the Atlantic Ocean from this spot are untouchable, I might add! On the food menu, you’ll find a variety of tapas, noodles and sushi. On the drinks side, they have a big selection of refreshing beverages on offer. Be sure to ask one of the friendly barmen to shake up an exotic cocktail for you – you won’t be disappointed!

Where: Cape Royale Luxury Hotel, 47 Main Road, Green Point, Cape Town.
